Our teachers stormed the beaches in Normandy rather than played a silly game. Yep. My fifth grade teacher was missing a chunk of his right ear, courtesy of a bomb fragment delivered to his ship via kamikaze attack near Okinawa. I overheard he and my dad trading war stories at a parent-teacher event.
