A tree masticator doing brush clearing in the Manzano Mountains sparked on some rocks and caused the Dog Head Fire. Burned about 18,000 acres, but due to the sparse population only 12 structures went. I was evacuated for about 5 days.
Still, not clearing is an invitation to disaster.
The operator was at fault for that. Why? Because they are supplied with, or are supposed to be supplied, equipment to put out any incidental fires.
