resident Donald Trump will make an eleventh-hour attempt to keep a Mississippi Senate seat in Republican hands later this month when he headlines two rallies there the day before a runoff election.
His campaign organization announced Saturday the president will hold two rallies on Nov. 26 on behalf of Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. He will be in Tupelo at 5 p.m. and then in Biloxi three hours later.
Hyde-Smith faces former Democratic Rep. Mike Espy in the special election runoff after neither cleared 50 percent in the Nov. 6 jungle primary, which saw two Republicans and two Democrats run together on the same ballot. Hyde-Smith was appointed to the seat in April after GOP Sen. Thad Cochran resigned over health reasons. The special election winner gets to serve out the final two years of Cochran’s term.

Well, assuming she wins, the Senate will be 53 Republicans, and 47 Democrats. Which hopefully gives a bit of cushion, if we have another bruising Supreme Court nomination battle, for example.

If Joe Manchin had half a decent, strategic, functioning brain he would switch parties from being a Democrat to becoming a Republican. The Democrat controlled House will go off the deep end, over & over again and the Democrat Senate is now “Zero” land with only 45 votes and two independents. Trump/McConnell’s 53 senators rule the roost in the Senate!!!

Exactly! Too many ‘purists’ here talking about not caring about winning this seat to ‘punish’ the establishment. Trump needs another Republican Senator.

I have had that same thought myself. I wonder if he is being encouraged to do that.
