Why would he turn?
Did you know Justice Antonin Scalia was good friends with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg? People can be friends and disagree on politics, I see nothing wrong with that.
My cousin, who is my godfather, moved to Seattle in 1969.
You won’t find anyone more liberal than he.
You won’t find anyone more conservative than I.
But we are very close.
Out of respect for each other we just never talk politics.
Kavanaugh said the same thing when he was presented by Trump at the “swearing in” (I think it was the second swearing in?) for prime time TV. Something like “Unlike congress - there is no aisle. We look at each case, all working together in the same room in order to uphold the Constitution.”
I’m guessing that he was biting his tongue a bit. I know that is how it is supposed to be - but I know that it is not free of political bias.
“People can be friends and disagree on politics.”
I am friends with only one liberal, and it’s very difficult at times. We don’t discuss politics, but each of us has been known to throw in a short drive-by zinger once in a while. We have hobbies in common. Sadly, she has only a few days to live, and I will miss her.
