Planning for these once-a-decade, intensely political processes already has begun. In most states, legislators draw the maps, and governors have a veto. Who holds those elected seats when it is time to redistrict is, potentially, a key to partisan control of legislatures and states, and policy choices for years to come.

The first elected official who will play a role in redistricting already has been elected: the governor in Virginia, Ralph Northam, who was elected in 2017. More elected officials who will be part of redistricting will be elected in 2018, with a few more in 2019 and many more in 2020.

2018 was harmful for our redistricting efforts. Michigan passed some BS ballot initiative. Rat theft of WI Governorship unfortunate for that state.

VA leg election next November. Entire State Senate and House. BARE GOP majorities in both. If they rats win they will gerrymander the hell out of VA.

In we don’t take back the NY State Senate in 2020 that’s real bad for NY.

Wisconsin is safe from redistricting until 2022 - Republicans still hold Assembly (House) and Senate

In FL, the idiot people in direct democracy ratified a constitutional amendment designed to go around the GOP legislature and punt the drawing of legislative districts to the state supreme court.
