What can President Trump accomplish in the wake of the 2018 mid-term elections, with respect to the Second Amendment?
The Democrats, with the aid of their colleagues in the media, have managed to take control of the House of Representatives.
At the same time, the Republicans have gained seats in the Senate, cementing their control there, especially with the retirement of Senator Jeff Flake and the death of John McCain.
Given the new reality, Donald Trump's presidency has gained some potential and lost some potential.
The losses are real. They mean little legislation will be passed. I do not expect any positive legislative reforms to restore Second Amendment rights to pass in the next two years. The House will work to bog down the executive branch with frivolous investigations.
The gains are real, and can be acted on. President Trump now controls the executive branch more effectively than he has previously.
President Trump can issue executive orders. He has more latitude to pick his cabinet and have his selections approved by the Senate. He can work with his new AG to clarify existing law.
Many Federal gun free zones are based on interpretation of 18 U.S. Code § 930 Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities.

If your driver’s license is accepted in all fifty states so should your CCW.

Well, if Congress can’t make any progress on legislation, that may not be a bad thing......
Shortly after he was inaugurated, I sent President Trump a suggestion that he start investigations under the DOJ to go after government entities that violate the 2nd amendment rights of Americans.
For example, Colorado is an open carry state, yet Denver county bans it.
The multiple people being jailed in New Jersey (Like Shaneen Allen).
Until people start being prosecuted for this, it’s going to continue.
At least nation concealed carry reciprocity got passed out of the House before we lost it.
President Trump should issue an EO to rescind bush 1 import bans.
Another E.O. possibility.
That would be cool.
Personally I’d like to go legally buy an AR carbine, in .45acp, with about a 9” barrel, with a suppressor.
That would take a bit more than an EO, though...
Abolish the ATF.
If there ever IS another Amnesty, be sure to saw off a shotgun’s barrel or barrels, and register that. Everyone can use a “shorty” in a pinch! Maybe have one 12”, one 18”, one 22” and one 28” barrel for the same pump shotgun! Another option: find and buy any semi-auto firearm that fires from an OPEN BOLT. Then, easily convert it to FULL AUTO and register the result! Trivial job!
I wonder if this could be done through the courts. Kalifornia and New York can't claim that my states drivers licensing standards are too lax. They honor the license.
Whut? .45 is still in widespread use. What are you prattling on about? Matter of fact, go Google “.45 ACP” and all of the top results will be websites selling it. If you have a problem with minutiae, perhaps take it to a higher power than someone in an Internet forum who may have misused what is a commonly overlooked specification.
Excuse me... I won't make that mistake again, now that I've been duly corrected.
Thank you so much, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks.
Informative site. It has political effects.
For example, antique pistols in Canada are no longer antiques if they are converted to fire .45 Colt.
.45 Auto is *not* .45 Colt.
Ya’ll mean the 45acp that hangs under my left arm does not exist?
A NFA amnesty would be AWESOME.
You can do that; just use an arm brace.
You can buy a short shotgun now as long as it doesn’t have a couple of features the gungrabbers don’t like.
Don’t insult other gun-owners’ preferences if they don’t hurt you. If you know you ass from a hole in the ground, gun-wise, you already know not to do that.
