Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has taken a swipe at Donald Trump accusing his administration of dividing the nation - as friends confirm to DailyMailTV that he's building towards a 2020 run.
In an exclusive interview Garcetti says 'it breaks my heart' to witness what he described as the damage Trump is doing, but feels there is opportunity for unity.
He also pointedly avoided using the president's name, in a sign of the unifying message he is likely to see as his path to the Democratic nomination.
The 47-year-old politician insisted that the nation could, with the right leadership, became a 'loving place that everybody belongs to,' and he promised 'less talk, more action.'
This comes as close friends of the mayor told DailyMailTV that they believe Garcetti will throw his hat into the ring to fight for the Democratic nomination.

Being in Orange County I’ve noticed that Yoga Pants Garcetti very often praises the mayor of Anaheim, a fake Republican named Tom Tait. I suspect it’s no coincidence that Anaheim shares LA’s scourge of homeless camps. Both of these clowns enable the problem. Maybe they will run on the same ticket in 2020
This clown Garcetti can’t even clean up the 85,000 to 100,000 living on the streets of Los Angeles. How does he think he can manage the vast US??! He has no chance against the DC establishment Deep Staters lined up to try to take out Trump.

Whom do you hope the Democrats will nominate for president? Their last four presidential nominees were Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Kerry, and Al Gore. All of them were U.S. senators, and three of those four lost. That’s why I hope their next presidential nominee will be someone who has been a senator. These senators or former senators said that they might run: Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamela Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Jeff Merkley, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren. I hope that all nine of them will run. That would cause the primary vote to split, and the Democrats would keep arguing until their convention or longer. I emailed four of them and asked them to run. If you hope they’ll run, please email some of them and ask them to run.
