~ Happy Thanksgiving 2018!! ~
GOD BLESS AND WATCH OVER THEM, WHEREVER THEY SERVE
Canteen Mission Statement
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies' military and family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation
Washington, D.C. October 3, 1863
By the President of the United States of America.
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People.
I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.
By the President: Abraham Lincoln
Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and veterans and their families, and is family friendly.

A Mothers Love
November 23, 2018
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
Psalm 91:15
When Sues parents divorced when she was young, the legal tussle over her custody and other matters resulted in her being sent to a childrens home for a while. Bullied by bigger kids, she felt lonely and abandoned. Her mother visited only once a month, and she hardly saw her father. It was only years later, however, that her mother told her that while the homes rules prevented her from visiting more often, she had stood at the fence every single day, hoping to catch a glimpse of her daughter. Sometimes, she said, I would just watch you playing in the garden, just to check if you were okay.
When Sue shared this story, it gave me a glimpse of Gods love. Sometimes we may feel abandoned and alone in our struggles. How comforting it is to know that God is in fact watching over us all the time! (Psalm 33:18). Even though we cant see Him, He is there. Like a loving parent, His eyes and His heart are constantly on us wherever we go. Yet, unlike Sues mom, He can act on our behalf at any time.
Psalm 91 describes God delivering, protecting, and lifting up His children. He is more than a refuge and a shelter. As we navigate the dark valleys of life, we can take comfort in the knowledge that the all-powerful Lord is watching over us and is active in our lives. I will answer [you], He declares. I will be with [you] in trouble, I will deliver [you] (v. 15).
Lord, thank You for the assurance that were always under Your watchful care.
Our heavenly Father is ever near.
Psalm 91 celebrates the safety and security of those who trust in God, who have made the Lord (the Most High) their refuge, fortress, and dwelling place (vv. 2, 9). The psalmist affirms that our God is powerful and faithful and therefore trustworthy (vv. 18). He also testifies of God's protection and deliverance in a dangerous and destructive world (vv. 916). In the New Testament, Satan misquoted verses 1112 to tempt Jesus to test God's protection by jumping from the top of the temple (Matthew 4:6). In response, Jesus says that God's promise is for those who love and obey Him (Psalm 91:1415) and not for those who presume upon God's grace (Matthew 4:7).

VFW Report:
Lovely day, doors wide open, good food and friends.
The turn out was lower than expected, and that is kind of a blessing.
Casey was putting out the potato salad when Amanda saw the wasp in her hair... OMG! that alone was worth the price of admission!
The ensuing dance LOL

It’s considered totally full at 11:29 our time. 12:29 a.m. EST.
It’s really bright tonight. The camera automatically dimmed it when I snapped the shot. If it wasn’t so cold, I could walk around outside with no need for a flashlight.
Had a quiet day. Just did some housework until it was time to feed the kittehs and us.
Did y’all have a tasty supper at the cafeteria you usually go to?
