If you aren't concerned about what is happening to your “Red Texas”, you're not paying attention.
I live in Illinois, generally as red a state as you'll find anywhere-save a very small section of the NE corner.
And that's all it takes.
Believe me, your “Red Texas” WILL be gone if your current population trends continue.

I recently made Texas my home. I am prying the disaffected conservatives from places like OC come here to offset the blues. But I fear you are right, the creeping virus of socialism is obvious and I fear for the future

Absolutely, true, how long can Midland, San Angelo, and Tyler, and rural counties offset the liberalism of the large TX cities? The answer is that they can’t. Demographics is destiny, not just for IL but look at WA and OR too.
