People on the left (Democrats) are feeling emboldened by the Never Trump attacks on POTUS from “conservatives” and the Deep State. It gives a “bipartisan” veneer to their smears and makes them more effective.
Trump was talking in a way that told the military how important they are...some of the young officers may have missed the signs.... but the rank and file know he loves, and respects, them.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but as I remember it, the Left accused GWB of grandstanding every single time he did anything supportive of the military.

Before commenting, I read through the comments and was surprised that no one was talking about the content or style of Trump’s “conversations” with the military commanders.
Trump was trying to have “REAL” conversations with them.
(A touch of reality in an otherwise awkward and stressful phone call).
These commanders ALL comported themselves well, again in an otherwise awkward and stressful phone call. I’m sure that the personalness (if that’s a word) of the call has become more apparent to them after the fact.
It was “Trump being Trump”. I LOVE this man! MY PRESIDENT!
I guess the President should be channeling Santa Claus visiting troops world-wide in a single day? Obama visited troops every Christmas...if “visit” is defined as locking down whole sections of military installations in Hawaii so he could “work out” or buy photo-op shave ice for his kids...
Am I bitter? I was one of the poor suckers caught in the already snarled Oahu traffic during that guy’s month long taxpayer funded “visits”...
If Trump cured cancer the left would accuse him of putting the chemo companies out of business.
He ALWAYS salutes/speaks to those who usher him in/out of anywhere - when they show him getting on AF One, he has never (that I've seen) neglected to salute/return a salute of the military guard/escort.
