Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban ruled unconstitutional by federal judge

A federal judge struck down Mississippi’s controversial law banning most abortions after 15 weeks about eight months after the Republican governor approved it. The law, called the Gestational Age Act, was considered to be the most restrictive in the U.S. It banned abortions after 15 weeks and only allowed for exemptions if the pregnancy threatened a woman's life or "major bodily function" or if the fetus would be “incompatible with life” outside of the womb.

Exemptions would not be granted for pregnancies that resulted from rape or incest. Doctors who violated the ban would have faced mandatory suspension or revocation of their medical license.

U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves ruled Tuesday that the law “unequivocally” violated women’s constitutional rights and contended there wasn’t “legitimate state interest strong enough, prior to viability, to justify a ban on abortions.”

“[T]his Court concludes that the Mississippi Legislature’s professed interest in ‘women’s health’ is pure gaslighting,” Reeves wrote in his decision.

Appeal to the SCOTUS; it's their chance to reverse Roe v Wade.

HOW DID YOU GUESS????

On April 28, 2010, Reeves was nominated by President Barack Obama to fill a seat on the Southern District of Mississippi vacated by William Henry Barbour, Jr.[4] Reeves was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 19, 2010 by voice vote.[6] Reeves is the second African-American to serve on the federal judiciary in Mississippi.[3] He received his commission on December 20, 2010.[5]

Individual judges have too much power. Most are formal lawyers and we all know how we all feel about lawyers.

That’s why liberals go judge-shopping.

Expect this one to head to fhe SCOTUS if not overturned by the appeals court first.

Regulating and restricting gun ownership to defacto banning it, of an explicitly named constitutional right, okay to libtards.

Regulating and restricting abortion, not a constitutional nor a human right, not ever mentioned in the constitution, this is verboten to libtards.

We all know why the hypocrisy, just pointing it out.

“The black-robed tyrants strike again.”

In this case it’s a Black-Robed BLACK TYRANT! If we do not take some serious steps to curtail the illegal activities of the Federal Judges scattered around the country, we are not going to salvage our country. These people pi$$ on our Constitution on a daily basis and they get away with it.

Oh - and I have challenged many, including some “legal scholars”, to give a simple explanation as to how the “right” to kill an unborn child is found in the Roe v Wade decision (or any other) - in the Constitution.

I have never had a single even remotely logical response.

RvW was primarily decided based on the “right to privacy” - Yet how is that not then applicable if you get upset with your 10-month-old child who won’t quit crying and has really caused your blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels? Why can’t’ you simply kill and dispose of that child? How is the act of being physically born a magical dividing line between legal murder and illegal murder?

There is no Constitutional defense. None.
