Adverts for junk food are to be banned on the entire Transport for London (TfL) network to help tackle childhood obesity, Sadiq Khan has announced.
From February, promotions for unhealthy food and soft drinks will be stripped from trains, buses, boats and trams across the capital.
The decision covers the likes of fizzy drinks, chocolate bars, and cheeseburgers, meaning big brands like McDonald's and Cadbury will only be able to feature healthier products on any adverts they want to run.
Mr Khan, London's mayor, said a public consultation launched in May had found "overwhelming support" for a ban, which will apply on all modes of transport controlled by TfL.
He added: "Child obesity is putting the lives of young Londoners at risk and placing huge pressure on our already strained health service.
"It is absolutely imperative that we take tough action against this ticking time bomb now, and reducing exposure to junk food advertising has a role to play in this - not just for children, but parents, families and carers who buy food and prepare meals.

Children from more deprived areas are more affected, with young people in Barking and Dagenham almost twice as likely to be overweight as children from Richmond.

Junk food is bad for your health in London but Islam isn’t!
I consider myself overweight. I try to control that by drinking lots of water during the day, adding a lot of soups, fruits and vegs to the menu.
I still smoke, but it’s greatly reduced now compared to twenty years ago. Back in the 90’s I had my MORE Menthol cigarettes. I smoked a pack a day. That was when a whole carton was about $7.00, and the public’s attitude about smoking was different. Today a carton can run $45. or more.
Now, I smoke my Marlboro Ultra-Light Menthols.
I only smoke from three to five cigs a day now, if that.
Many times, I just want a few puffs for the flavor, then I’m all set for a while. Now, there are some apartment buildings that won’t rent to you, unless you smoke outside, or at least in the doorway, as I do. I have adjusted to the world of today.
Bottom line is, if I did not smoke those few cigarettes I do on a weekly basis, I probably would be eating even more food. IOW, Sometimes, Mother knows best. BUT in moderation.
***Many folks will use physical activity as a stimulant and diversion. This works too. Due to my ongoing foot problems, I don’t do a lot of physical activity, so I get resourceful.

Every time I see someone claiming to be poor that is fat I think of my childhood where poor people were ragged and skinny, lived in shacks and probably too poor to own a junk vehicle.
Today I think poor is defined as those wishing more entitlements so they do not have to work.
Keep the kids thin so their new muzzy rapists will be happy with them.
