US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley accused Russia of taking “outlaw actions” against Ukrainian ships. She also said Russia acted illegally and arrogantly when it blocked 3 Ukrainian ships traversing the Kerch Strait.

Haley is out and likely didn’t check her statement with the White House.

She rarely has.

Nikki Haley could bang her shoe on the table and nobody would care. She’s a Lame Duck, Neocon, Never Trumper.

Ukraine (or likely the people of the Ukraine) are probably worried about a re-enactment of the Holodomor that USSR perpetrated on the Ukraine in the early 1930s.

That resulted in mass cannibalism - although they only brought a few hundred to trial over those charges.

From Wikipedia (but better documented elsewhere:

Evidence of widespread cannibalism was documented during the Holodomor.[25][49]

Survival was a moral as well as a physical struggle. A woman doctor wrote to a friend in June 1933 that she had not yet become a cannibal, but was “not sure that I shall not be one by the time my letter reaches you.” The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to eat corpses died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Parents who resisted cannibalism died before their children did.[50]
