Respectfully, as an avid reader of Bill Buckley’s books, columns, essays, magazine articles and having watched countless hours of his TV show and other appearances, I have no idea what you’re talking about. If he wrote obituaries of passing figures, he might have honestly pointed out political or philosophical disagreements or even criticized bad actions, but he never used “snark”. He was a gentleman.
Buckley never did any ambush obituaries that I ever heard of. He was not notorious for that.
He was famous as an intellectual, magazine owner and writer.
