In Mao’s day, the notion of capitalists becoming Communists would have been dismissed as rank heresy.

Nowadays no one blinks an eye as wealthy successful people join the Party. And they aren’t reviled for being rich.

I don't think Ma joined the Party. I think the Party made Ma.

It's a front so that Chinese Communism can appear to be modern and partly capitalist.

Communism and capitalism cannot co-exist in the same country.
