Canonized by Herbert Marcuse: Tolerance is to be unilateral and reserved solely for leftists.

Society is both cause and cure: No one is inherently evil. Thus, Society must have all power, in order to redeem the lost person whom Society has failed.

A FReeper (fishtank?) has the tagline: Denial of original sin is the root of liberalism.

The gun cannot be uninvented. So indeed only bad guys would have guns.

The left is okay with that, since keeping the lawful majority cowed and controlled is the real goal.

"Why do I carry a gun? A cop is too heavy..."
"When it's a matter of seconds, the police are only minutes away!"
Just beware of overpenetration, 00 buckshot and 5.56 FMJ will both penetrate around a dozen sheets of drywall...and 9mm FMJ isn't too far from that either. Expanding rounds help a bit, but not as much as you might think...

‘To subject society to the false proposition that there are no “bad guys” or “good guys” IS tyranny.’

I suppose you could look at it that way, but I was referring to the kind that enslaves the population by a rogue central government; the kind the Founders warned us about.

You are exactly right. I was looking at it through George Orwell goggles and relating the propaganda aspect to what our founding fathers would consider as “tyranny”. Bastardizing the moral standards of our culture and nation, I believe, they would consider tyranny. . . of which there are many flavors. The Commie Left, with the assistance of the MSM, is very adept at creating new twists and manifestations of “tyranny”.

The Left wants to define good and bad based on obedience to the State. To succeed, they must first erase traditional notions of good and bad. So amorality is just a stepping stone to a new morality, based on the whim and wisdom of those in charge, that is to say, them.

I only posted that because I think the democrat party is rapidly moving toward full Marxism. Better everyone should see the signs. When you have a recent Supreme Court justice saying this, you know that repeal is what they want.

“If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?” ~ Frederic Bastiat

Wow!! I've never heard that one before.

To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the law abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless.

Rather like a mother lion abandoning her cubs to a pack of hyenas.

The Left just has a fundamental problem with “evil”. They don’t think it exists.

Fundamentally, the left IS evil.

I've honestly stopped engaging my more radical acquaintances about it. They have genuinely, passionately, and very overtly declared me an enemy and my existence intolerable in the world that they imagine. There's not really a lot of room for reason in all of that.

They'll come for us when they think it's safe enough and fly when they discover it isn't. What happens after that is the question.
