Evaluating Paul Manafort’s Alleged Violation of His Plea Agreement
National Review ^ | 11/27/2018 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 11/28/2018 10:57:07 AM PST by Kid Shelleen

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office has informed a federal court that Paul Manafort violated his plea agreement by repeatedly lying to investigators. Prosecutors thus consider the agreement null and void and have asked the court to set a sentencing date immediately.

The alleged breach was outlined in a brief submission to district judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington, and reported by the New York Times Monday evening. The submission by Andrew Weissmann and other lawyers on Mueller’s team does not describe Manafort’s allegedly false statements, --snip-- Manafort and his lawyers are clearly preparing to argue that Manafort was honest but that Mueller’s rabidly anti-Trump prosecutors did not like what he had to say — i.e., he would not implicate the president in misconduct.

Good analysis by Andrew McCarthy; key takeaways.

* Mueller used the plea deal to set up Manafort for state prosecutions for which there is no presidential power to pardon.
* Manafort would not lie for Mueller.
* Since Manafort could not implicate the president, Mueller's goons are reneging on the plea bargon.
* McCarthy believes Mueller will keep milking the investigation. No end in sight.
* Trump–Russia criminal conspiracy still without evidence.

McCarthy has no idea what information Trump has that will reveal that this entire Mueller investigation built on the FBI investigation that began on July 30, 2016 (or earlier) was the product of a lie and sedition. When the public learns of it, how much opposition will there be for pardons and advocacy for impeachment? Trump and the targets of Mueller will rightly be seen as victims.

.
We need a full investigation of this rogue “investigation,” and punishment to the maximum extent of the law.

Refusing to conspire is not a crime.

I wonder how many more years of Federal Government service Mueller needs to vest his DB pension. This could go on for years.

I figured that out Muscle would go on and on long before Andrew McCarthy did - as did many of us unwashed who were never Federal Attorneys. I am so sick of beltway lawyers.

The oh-so-knowledgable McCarthy actually had to issue a Mea Culpa months ago, he was so deluded by his fellow swamp dwellers. (Elsewhere, Gingrich praises China Mac and his wife as “good people”!)

Muscle = Mueller.

(I have tried all I can to disable spellcheck, to no avail.)

Yep - what a railroad setup...Mueller wants folks to lie for him and also considers lies to him to be the most serious crimes he can come up with....what a legal conundrum...if you do what he wants, you open yourself to his vengeance anyway.

Mueller used the plea deal to set up Manafort for state prosecutions for which there is no presidential power to pardon.

All NY can get him on probably is the tax evasion on the said transactions between 2011 and 2014. I think the statute of limitations in NY for that is 5 years.
