You will sometimes hear ambition expressed as, I want more responsibility. That is entirely unbelievable; nobody wants responsibility. Everyone wants authority (and freedom is authority over ones own affairs), but no one actually wants responsibility (for themselves - they demand it of others).Heres the lament of the person who perceives that he has responsibility but not authority:
