Researchers say it would be cheap and doable to dim the sun to curb global warming

It would be doable, but would it be wise?

Researchers say they’ve looked into how hard it would be to spray chemicals into the atmosphere to block the sun and curb global warming — and it would be neither technically difficult nor too expensive.

The researchers, in a new study, did not make any judgments about whether it should be done, but they did “show that a hypothetical deployment program starting 15 years from now, while both highly uncertain and ambitious, would be technically possible strictly from an engineering perspective,” said Gernot Wagner, research associate at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and codirector of Harvard’s Solar Geoengineering Research Program.

The researchers envisioned a fleet of just under 100 tankers flying just over 60,000 missions a year by the 15th year of the project.

Not everyone thinks such “solar geoengineering” is a good idea.

All in the service of a deceitful scheme.

Let’s see, we have just spent about half a century cleaning our air to appease these folks, now they want to load it up with pollutants again. . .and we’re not supposed to be bright enough to notice?

Sounds like justification for contrails. I recall some years ago, spray underarm deodorant was a major contributor to global warming. These people need to be kept far from any political power.

They should just up and move to the moon or Mars instead so they don’t have to worry about global warming.

Now they really sound like one of those cheap sci fi movies you’d watch on TV late at night or on a weekend afternoon.

I was going to write something similar better read all the comments first.

This idea is so insane those that suggest it should have their diploma’s revoked.

If they are curious about the effect of dimming the sun all they need to do is go back in history to the mid 1800s when a volcano in the south pacific exploded and put enough ash in the air to circle the globe causing a “year without a summer”.

Well, I was joking about the excess CO2/planting trees high in the atmosphere...I don’t believe anything that side says.

Yeah, spray more chemicals into the atmosphere!

Liberal: but these are GOOD chemicals!

Me: But didn't you tell me windfarms would provide cheap economic renewable electricity without killing any birds?

Liberal: That was then. This is now!!

And failure could result in a man made nuclear winter. Wouldn’t it be ironic if a failed attempt to cure a nonexistent problem doomed mankind?
