I don't care one bit about bump stocks, but I'm probably irrevokeable upset with Trump and his "just doing the work obama couldn't do" chit.

When do the NRA & SAF lawyers jump into action?
This could be a good test to see how truly 2A friendly this new SCOTUS will be.

Mistake on Trump’s part. He should have gotten a compromise, such as allowing licensed holders permission to carry interstate, etc.

Personally, I don’t see any functional difference between a bump stock and an unregistered drop in auto sear. They both are modifications to a firearm that allow full auto fire. As a side note, at least when the ATF determined that the streetsweeper shotgun was a destructive device, you could still possess one if you registered it as a DD. Also the normal NFA $200 registration (tax) fee was not required.

Bad move by Trump, but Hillary would have done this in her first week as POTUS.

Bump stocks are just an inefficient way to pretend to have a select fire weapon, and we should still be able to own real select fire weapons without all the bureaucracy and expense. Bump stocks are a poor substitute. I’m old enough to remember being able to order guns by mailorder. But I agree this is a bad precedent. This is probably just a trial balloon to see what the reaction will be. If you don’t like it, let the WH and your congresscritters know.

Just wondering what a class III license costs. If you want full auto, pay for it.

Now all the liberals will vote for him! I support Trump, but this was extremely bone headed.

Basically bump stocks are a legally indefensible POS. When you let legislators make the decision, you wind up with all sorts of crap like banning all firearm sales to persons 18-20 years of age. That's what happened in Florida with a large Republican majority in the House and Senate and a Repub governor.

Since before the National Firearms Act of 1934 -- the problem isn't ever the guns, it's the people.
PC Principle prohibits asking the question: What is WRONG with these people?" And we end up with stupid regulations like this.

Do I have to turn in all my rubber bands? After all, you can get the same effect with
a rubber band.
Good job (/SARC), President Trump, alienating a bunch of your core supporters to ban something that is simply a far more expensive version of something you can buy at Staples for about $10 for a pack of 100.
Any Trump admin and/or campaign people lurking here, you might want to point this out to him.

When you are engaged with an enemy who is intent on incremental gains, it is simply good strategy to oppose him on everything, everywhere.
