Two more women, including a fellow astronomer, say Neil deGrasse Tyson is guilty of inappropriate sexual conduct. Dr. Katelyn N. Allers, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Bucknell University, told me that she was felt up by Tyson at an after-party following a meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in 2009. AAS didnt have a mechanism for reporting sexual harassment at the time, but Dr. Allers says she probably would report the incident if it had happened today.

Dr. Allers didnt feel like she was in danger during her encounter with Tyson, but she did describe it as uncomfortable and creepy. That interaction also made her think twice about allegations brought by Tchiya Amet, a musician who says Tyson raped her in his apartment when they were grad students together.

I remember Tige Andrews as “the chief”. Oh, I guess that was “the Captain”.
just kidding
Check out this video to learn about this fake black man...
MMichael Eric Dyson vs Neil deGrasse Tyson - Who's uplifting the black community? He's a fake...but he's a really good actor.
Liberal or not, show me the 2009 police report or shut up.
He has always struck me as a product of Affirmative Action.
You know theres a ring around Uranus.
Is it also a gas giant?
Not at all surprised about this. Phony TV scientist with an ego the size of Jupiter.
Only two? With Sagan it was ‘bilyuns..’
He certainly made a very profound statement near the end of that video.
Black men were not getting congratulatory emails about their academic achievements in 1988 or prior.
He was always fond of telling women of his vast knowledge of Uranus.
I stand corrected. Thanks!
HST what is the “statute” of limitations on these spurious charges?
One of my favorite movie lines, father to daughter’s date: “I got a .45 and a shovel. No one will miss you.”
He used a telescope to look at her orbs....
Why did you post a picture of issac from the love boat
The press & media can say deGrasse Tyson is a “genius” and “high intellect”.
He’s a FOOL in all reality. A liar. A moral coward. Evil and vile.
Psalm 14:1
Psalm 10:4
“When women find out you are an astro physicist you can grab em by the pussy”.
Not every type someone acts boorish is it sexual harassment or misconduct.... Awkward and drunken passes or innuendo in social settings are just what they are.
Was a time, women were women, and if a guy got out of line he got a slap, or a drink to the face, and that was that.. now its this whole lot of nonsense.
If its at work, its inappropriate, but if its not, its not misconduct for crying out loud.
Like it or not, men and women do something called sex.. if someone is being inappropriate in a work environment, or with a work colleague then yes thats an issue.. but if some guy throws a drunken or awkward pass at you that makes you uncomfortable, you simply extract yourself from the situation and that is that. You don’t claim the guys a predator or a deviant just because he made a pass at you that you weren’t interested in.
Personally not a fan of Tyson, but what this woman is “reporting” (The whole tatroo thing, not the one claiming rape) as misconduct... at a social gathering.. unless he had direct sway over her professionally, just sounds like a lousy pass or joke. She may be humiliated by it because it was done in a situation where coworkers were around her, but it doesn’t seem to be a crime to me.
“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”
I don’t think I’m an angel, but I do hesitate to tread here.
In terms of discerning the level of bad behavior, the rape charge is easiest. If proved beyond a reasonable doubt, it’s a hanging offense.
Pressuring a direct report to have sex: loss of job minimum. If there were no physical coercion, or overt threats of some form of retaliation, then I don’t see a crime.
The tattoo incident: Yes, he’s a deviant, a pervert, a predator. I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid looking down lady’s dresses uninvited. It’s creepy, pervy behavior, barring some really exceptional excuse that I can’t even imagine.
I don’t think the tattoo incident rises to the level of a crime, but I would entertain the argument that it’s simple misdemeanor assault. As to loss of job, it appears that this incident happened at a work-related event, where one could reasonably interpret that Tyson was representing his employer, and I wouldn’t shed a tear if he lost his job, and even his entire professional career over it.
“work related” is a dubious term... at best.
Sounded to me more like some social outing tied to some conference folks were attending (but I may be wrong).
If that’s what it was, these generally are basically social mixers and networking functions, not required attendance, or directly work related.
I am not defending Tyson, I don’t even like Tyson, but “Creepy” isn’t illegal... and if every guy or girl, whose done something “Creepy” or, interpreted by another as “creepy” in a social setting with members of the opposite sex is now a crime, well, enjoy a free population that is nothing more than a bunch of asexuals.
The problem with these things, is the “victim” gets to determine what’s a crime, which is insanity.
The adage is simple, a cute guy compliments a girl, she giggles and blushes... an ugly guy does it, and its harassment. Boorish behavior is not illegal in and off itself.
LIke I said, was a time women were women.. guy got out of line it was a slap to the face, or a drink to the face, and that was that... now its all this nonsense of weak pathetic victim mentality nonsense.
I admit I don’t know the full story, and frankly I don’t want to... but it sounds to me more like an awkward or unwanted pass at best. Tyson has no power of this woman or her career professionally. If he did indeed “grope” her, then that’s a criminal act.. but boorish actions are not defacto illegal.
No wonder kids today are so messed up...
