South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott said Thursday he would oppose the nomination of Thomas Farr to the federal bench over his links to voter suppression efforts in North Carolina targeting blacks.
Scotts decision assures that President Trumps nominee will not be confirmed by the Senate, where retiring Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake had already said he would oppose Farrs nomination.
Senate Republicans have a slim 51-49 majority and could not afford to lose more than one vote since all 49 Democrats oppose Trumps pick.
In a statement explaining his decision, Scott, who is black, cited a 1991 Department of Justice memo that was leaked this week, days before the Senate was set to vote on Farrs confirmation, South Carolinas The State newspaper reported.

Kick his RINO ass to the curb.
Tribalism wins...every time!
Scott has certainly been a disappointment, lately.
OH NOES people need to bring an ID in order to vote such a horror/sarc
Drop it now and renominate him when the new congress is seated.
Bingo. Scott wont matter.
Hes been Flaked.
And in January they will have a 53-47 majority. Delay the vote.
Farr was engaged in ballot security. We can’t be having ballot security, now, can we? Rats wouldn’t win an election with ballot security.
I'd imagine no further 'explanation' was actually necessary.
Et tu, Scott?
So many liberals and RINOs seem to assume that blacks can’t obtain ID. Seems pretty racist.
Withdraw and resubmit next spring.
I’ll bet a Senator Roy Moore would have voted for him.
Too bad Mitch McConnell spent all those millions to get a Democrat senator instead.
Yeah, I’m bitter
All of a sudden Tim squirms out of being /ourguy/.... what happened?
Farr can be renominated and approved in Jan, and Scott can keep his “Black” cred.
Scott is a uselesss empty suit.
Unless Scott changes his mind, this nomination will not be voted on until January. At that time, Scott’s vote will be redundant.
