Turning Turkey into a ‘zombie’ nation of undesirables

Recent row during a Turkish parliamentary commission meeting spoke volumes. “We are cleansing everybody,” said the legislative body’s chairman, a member of the Justice and Development Party.

“Everybody” means all who disagree with the AKP. “Cleansing” is the pattern established by the party of dismissing “everybody” from state institutions, public office. With Turkey in the third year of the post-coup period, the purge has not slowed.

Discontent is being voiced. “Look, esteemed chairman,” roared Kurdish MP Meral Danis Bestas, “when the time comes and when you become subject to criminal charges, I and my friends will not hesitate to come to your legal defence but, now, what do you think you are doing by saying you are cleansing everybody? You have fired judges, police officers, gendarmerie officers, teachers, engineers, doctors. Who do you think you are?”

The discussion occurred while parliament considered a controversial draft bill that would restrict private employment for doctors dismissed from public health institutions by presidential decree on the accusation they were affiliated with terrorist groups.

An Amnesty International report puts number of people purged after the July 2016 failed coup at approximately 150,000. They include bureaucrats in central government ministries, as well as local administrative officials.

Bestas said, there are judges, police officers, gendarmerie officers, teachers, engineers, doctors among them. Amnesty International, which talked to nearly 900 officials fired, concluded there was no hope for them to live normally again, let alone return to their posts. A complaints commission, which has been at work for more than a year, has done almost nothing about objections raised by those dismissed, Amnesty International said.

The legislation, which is on its way to a parliamentary vote, is an especially severe act of purging. In some provinces in Turkey, the shortage of doctors and health staff is causing problems...

Despite the time since the failed coup, the opposition within and outside parliament say the Turkish state is determined to arbitrarily turn the following groups into the “living dead” — Gulenists, Kurds who sympathise with the Peoples’ Democratic Party, secularists and leftists in general.

In the official view, these groups are internal enemies of the state and society.

When the nation is controlled by a dictator who is aligned with his AKP party, the ultra nationalist MKP party and the Islamist Terrorists, what could possibly go wrong? Everything. Nothing short of everything.

Turkey Zombies. That sounds like something depicted in the comic series The Far Side. There would be an elderly couple wearing glasses and observing the scene. The husband makes a whimsical comment to his wife about those strange wandering birds.

Turkey’s from Turkey?

Would be humorous except if you look at what those Turkeys do to anyone who thinks different, it will make you ill.

What Ataturk gave to the Turks, Erdogan has thrown away.

One more Islamic shithole coming up.

History repeats; the Turks will soon be at the gates of Vienna as in the days of the Ottomans.

The time of a secular Turkey under the enlightened rule of Kemal Ataturk are long past; pray that Europe will brace itself against the oncoming Muslim hordes.

Let those of us “infidels” in America look to our arms and be ready against foes from without and from within. Beware of demands to “Disarm!” from our ruling elites.

Pig Erdogan is an Islamist porker who engineered that “coup” as an excuse to criminalize & remove all opposition in order to recreate the Caliphate with himself as the new Sultan

I’m not sure they all are, but current leadership is totally off the rails on the Jihadi side.

They have recently demonstrated they will commit genocide again. And continue to lie about it.

Engineered the (faux) “coup”.

Absolutely correct.

Many here knew it from the beginning.

He had to do that to keep power, otherwise the Kemalist would have taken him down.

He is the 1st islamist (Jihadi lover) since Kemal took power.

Yes. There are consequence for the likes of Erdogan to have power.

It will destroy Turkey, and bring misery to the region.

Our leadership is marking time to see if he will flame out from inside Turkey. He could tank the economy totally and bring about a revolt. Then it would be a free for all.

Qattar has so far kept him afloat.

2 times before, the Ottomans (Turks) have destroyed Saudi Arabia. Once they captured the King and took him to Istanbul and beheaded him. Saudi Arabia is very powerful economically.

Russia wants the straits and the oil. And to control Europe via fuel.

Putin like Erdogan wants to restore a great (sarcasm) empire that was lost.

Some things cannot be undone.
