Interesting that the elder Bush is shaking Governor Wallace’s hand. The Alabama governor pulled away enough Southern voters to deny Hubert Humphrey the Presidency. Nixon’s election meant Bush’s promotion to CIA director and ambassador to China. Interesting as well that a young Bill Clinton is sitting at the big boys table, given his then young age. 90% of what actually happens in politics is never revealed, until perhaps all the players are dead.
