US takes another hit on biofuel blending mandates

We knew (or at least feared) that this was coming, but Friday saw the finalization of the new biofuels – specifically ethanol – blending requirements for 2019 and 2020. And true to the promises that President Trump made to Iowa politicians, we did not see any significant reductions in the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) mandates. In fact, they went up, much the same as under Obama’s EPA. (EPA website)

I already go out of my way to buy non-alcoholic gas.

Food to fuel is just wrong, especially when fachist government driven.

Oddly enough, pure gasoline [87 Octane] is readily available in Iowa at Casey’s General Stores.

Nothing mandatory about using E10 or E15. Only 1400 gas stations across the country have E15.

From Reuters, July 2012 “The Air Force bought 11,000 gallons of alcohol-to-jet fuel from Gevo Inc, a Colorado biofuels company, at $59 a gallon in a program aimed at proving that new alternative fuels can be used reliably ...”

I wonder if buys like this will be considered in the total number of gallons that need to be produced.

I already go out of my way to buy non-alcoholic gas...

Is it just not possible where I live? (Staten Island, part of NYC)?

How does one tell?

The prices are all pretty much the same at every gas station.

God a Dodge Challenger and we’ve already had the discussion and came to the conclusion that it won’t harm my car on this board.

But I just don’t like it.

You neglected to mention the ‘hemp’ angle. BigAg will amass a fortune greater than BigPharma on that scam!

I think the Department of Energy maps out areas of high population density and won't allow distribution of non-oxygenated gasoline in those areas. Dallas is one such region - you have to go up near the Oklahoma border or east to Tyler to get out of the E10 "bubble". Smaller population centers aren't as restricted.

What annoys me is the fact that there is a "recreational" ethanol-free blend (Rec90) for boats, ATVs, dirt bikes, lawn equipment, etc - non-roadgoing stuff - but it's still not available except for a few places on the continent.

Considering that we’ve always imported hemp products to the exclusion of growing it ourselves....I don’t see the scam.

Staten Island needs to secede from NYC and become just a county in NYS like many others.

My old wheels get corn free.

That 16 Tacoma gets normal most of the time. Every now and then I run ethanol free in it.

I am on the interstate so much, there is always new fuel in the tank.

I’ve never seen that site before!! :)

We TRIED!! 20 years ago. They can’t let us go we pay for all the welfare babies in the Bronx.

It’s funny. Southerners and mid-westerners bash NYC, but they don’t know that we do too and we are technically a part of it!!

We built ourselves a WOP paradise out here :)

But we are tied to a monster.

We have almost as many people as Wyoming!! Statehood!!

And we LOST the house republican here because of the dam Russians and albanians in our Brooklyn district that USED TO BE ALL ITALIAN.

They are moving here too. ...spit...

We still went Trump 56 percent so if we were a state that would be R delegates :)

Seriously? Not one word in comments about Trump’s role in this. Is anybody else getting tired of this “4D chess”, “Trust the Plan” bullshit? Two years in we lost the House, no wall, the Fed is screwing us over, not one of the seditious members of the deep state has been charged and so on. Just call me Charlie Brown.
