In death, Bush becomes a yardstick for President Trump [tr]
Washington Post ^ | December 3, 2018 | Greg Jaffe

The tributes to former president George H.W. Bush poured in this weekend, each in their own way exposing the pitfalls ahead this week for the Oval Office’s current resident.

The 41st president was remembered by Barack Obama, the 44th, as “a humble servant.” “Honorable, gracious and decent” were the words Bill Clinton used in praise of his immediate predecessor. House Speaker Paul D. Ryan’s encomium described Bush as “great in his character, leading with decency and integrity.”

I served under President H.W. Bush and had some respect for him then, however I was just becoming politically aware. Realizing that liberal news and entertainment media was lying and controlled almose all media I understood when President Bush had to compromise or sign a liberal bill. I wished he'd fight back more but maybe that would make things worse. After all, he's the expert so he must know what he's doing.

Now we see President Trump and what a difference! He fights back exactly as we want. Neither Bush would even discuss the Johnson Amendment but President Trump just said "No, that's unconstitutional. Forget it." That's just one example of many similar freedoms President Trump fought for that others wouldn't touch.

And this is why we are even more disappointed in past GOP politicians. Thanks to President Trump we see that hey, it is possible to fight liberal news media and Democrats. President H.W. Bush's response to Trump's fighting back was to vote for Hillary Clinton, removing the last vestige of respect I had for him.

Yes, both President Bushes mostly failed to stand up to Democrats and liberal news media. They show very little on the yardstick. President Trump will need several yardsticks to measure with by the time he's done.

Yeah and I'm old enough to remember Clinton / Bush 1992. Back then George H.W. Bush WAS as despised by the Washington Post as Donald Trump is today. He was portrayed as a racist, sexist, homophobe who was in bed with big business, uncaring, unfeeling, out of touch with normal America.

Makes me wonder if thirty years down the line we will be reading stories about how "President John Q. Republican" is so horrible he could really takes some lesson from that great elder statesman Donald Trump...

EVERY vote that Perot got, was taken directly from George H.W. Bush.

NOPE ... see your tagline.

“They were vicious while he was president but he is now their guy”

Thats because they are all using Bush to try to reinforce their hate spewing narrative of Trump.
I listened to that self proclaimed presidential liberal hag Doris Goodwin the other day and wanted to puke.

Trump will be better than the next GOP President after he’s dead.

We’ve seen it all before.

Your comment dovetails with something I said on a thread yesterday in which I mentioned that I have a copy of a book written by the Media Research Center (”And That’s The Way It Isn’t”) back in about 1990 or 1991 that is filled with untold instances and quotes from the WaPo, Slimes, the alphabet networks, and elsewhere in the elite media about how GHWB was not much better than or just as bad as his immediate predecessor in the White House or even Hitler.

When I first heard of his passing, I knew right away these a@@holes were going to act like this with their arrogance and hypocrisy.

Perot was the first modern populist. He was flawed and it wasn’t his time.

But he paved the way for Trump.

If Ross Perot had actually WANTED to be President, he would have gone to the Democrat National Committee and told them, in George Soros manner, that Slick be eliminated from the ticket and himself substituted, his own name on the ticket. But Perot, in his egomania, was not interested in the Presidency as such, but only in getting George H.W. Bush defeated.

The high cost of hurt feelings.

It might have been glorious, but it was the wrong fight in the wrong place. There was a way to make things truly competitive, but Perot did not choose that path.

The Washington Compost: "All the fake news that's fit to line a bird cage with."

As for the premise of the article: What a crock of steaming poo.
