“I dont think going back on the gold standard sounds very realistic.”
Why do you believe that?
“But maybe we should be talking about whether or not an un-elected board operating in the shadows should have so much power.”
Our founding fathers talked about that, and set up a system specifically designed to avoid that.

Wasn't that one of Rod Rosenstein's firing parameters?
;-)
Janet L. Yellen was the most qualified Federal Reserve chair weve ever had and maybe the most successful Federal Reserve chair weve ever had.
I’m thinking they want to qualify that statement by the fact that the Fed kept interest rates so low during the previous administration. And, if she were an honest person, she probably didn’t want to, given the fact that she was the most qualified.
She HAD to keep them low. If she had raised them, they would have completely destroyed the previous administration and no one was going to be allowed to do that. And of course, now they’re creeping back up.
Perhaps, someone more knowledgeable on the subject can enlighten me. Are they going back up, because they have to? Are they going back up because the powers that be want to do what they can to harm the President and stall the economy?
On a side note, I wish the President would push for an audit, get rid of them and put the onus on the banks to set their own rates. Nothing like competition to drive the cost of EVERYTHING down. I don’t think credit cards, car loans and mortgages should be any different.
If you want to understand the Federal Reserve, you could do worse than listen to what Ron Paul has had to say on the matter for the past 40 years or so.

...... hmmm.
She kept Husseins fed funds rate at Zero just like a good ideologue.
It is strange how on one hand the progressives want an active Fed throwing toxic assets on their balance sheets and depressing interest rates below inflation, then on the other hand they complain about wealth inequality. So active Fed pushes asset prices above would be market prices, yet they hate the rich. Do they not realize who owns the assets and profits off the peasants loading up on debt to buy their Chinese made crap.
The Washington Post is one of the greatest purveyors of fiction of modern times. As if POTUS would reject a qualified individual because of their height. But the lie fits right in with the fictional Trump that they’ve tried to convince the public is the real Trump. You know, the incompetent moron who just happened to win the Republican nomination against 16 career politicians while spending a fraction of what they did. The dufus who beat Hillary despite having to take on the lies of the MSM. The fool who brought China, Canada and Mexico to the table.
Not only ‘maybe the russians can find them’, but “if you do, you’d be the hero of the media”, which so clearly was a joke and a stab at how uninterested the media was in anything that might make Clinton look bad.

LOL ...... quite an addition to this thread. /s
At least you gotta give him credit for optimism, eh?
She was shortsighted for sure.
Let me explain my [yawn] comment:
I generally boycott the fake news out of hand. Elaborate and premeditated hit pieces like this one are simply skipped over as soon as I get the gist of it. Casual fake news commentary, where something valid is being discussed on The Five or Tucker Carlson, and the token Leftist starts to spew talking points - I boycott that too - ask my wife; I mute the TV as soon as certain talking heads open their mouths. I don’t even wait to hear what they have to say. In some cases I probably would have agreed - but they have lost faith with me - so their words are no longer welcome in my head.
Occassionally, the fake news is pushing an anti-Trump narrative that “has legs”, and there is some degree of credibility (however undeserved) - and good but gullible people are being turned against Trump, or one of his proxies. In these cases, I do listen carefully to both sides of the argument. For example, in the Kavanaugh hearings, I listened to some of the Democrat lies even though I already knew they were lies - I was curious how Kavanaugh and his defenders would respond, and in order to evaluate the responses, I had to have heard what they were responding to.
This hit piece you posted about Trump supposedly being so shallow and stupid that he thinks a department chief needs to be tall to be effective... this is so absurd I doubt the fake news writer even believes it. I don’t see how this “story” deserves a single second of my attention - or yours, frankly.
Hence the [yawn]. I think I literally yawned when I read the headline.
You, however, are always worth listening to - responding to.
:-)
Please be well ......
Nailed it. The Washington Post is as dumb as, well, as dumb as a post.
