Kudlow: US to end subsidies for electric cars, renewables
The Hill ^ | 12/03/18 | Megan Keller

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said on Monday the Trump administration will end subsidies for electric cars and renewable energy sources, Reuters reports.

Kudlow said he expected subsidies for electric cars would end by 2020 or 2021, according to the report. The remarks were made in response to a question about what the administration would do about General Motors' plans to layoff 15,000 people and shutter five plants across North America.

The company's plans have sparked outrage in Washington from both parties.

Trump last week floated cutting GM's subsidies for electric vehicles and raising auto tariffs to punish the company if it cuts jobs in the U.S.

Conservatives have pushed back against subsidies and other policies meant to promote renewables over traditional sources. Democrats, though, are calling for a Green New Deal that would transition the country to 100 percent renewable energy for electricity to deal with climate change.

The White House has also pushed back against the United Nation's recent climate assessments which urge dramatic government intervention into the economy to stave off what the U.N. says in an impending environmental disaster.

The U.S. was the only country at the G20 summit over the weekend not to sign onto the 2015 Paris Climate Accords.

Cut the subsidies during budget reconciliation, as a bill payer for the border wall funding increase.

Since GM is now going to make them in China, there is no longer a reason for a US subsidy.

Since Obama illegally violated bankruptcy laws and transferred control of GM to his crony union thugs, GM has been working to advance the interests of the Dems ChiCom overlords, transferring technology, production and jobs.

Let the Chicoms throw their good money after bad, subsidizing every green “good idea” they can dream up. We could spend our money on good solid border barrier instead.

Also electric cars place a big burden on our electrical grid. If we suddenly have tens of millions of electric cars on the road, it would strain the capacity of our electrical grid to recharge all of those cars.

California thinks they have a problem with their electric grid sparking now? How will they ever get to work when their home charging port is burning? (Snicker, Snicker! But not really)

2015 Paris Climate Accords are just a suggestion - there are no quotas or penalties one way or another. Nations just say they are trying and that’s good enough - facts don’t count ... just more Algore climate propaganda.

If Musk wants his legacy to be counted among the greats like Edison and Ford, then he has to get off the government teat and invent the “better light bulb.

Otherwise he’s just another welfare deadbeat

...

One of his companies successfully launched 64 satellites today. A record for the United States. It was the third successful flight for the reusable first stage.

Tomorrow they launch a supply mission to the ISS.

What have you done by comparison that qualifies you to judge him in such a manner?

I am not and did not blame anyone for complaining about ending any subsidies.

Like I said, I don’t feel guilty in the least about claiming a subsidy, especially for as much taxes as I pay, and especially when I don’t see any benefit of such taxes.

Lets support an industry that was a scam from the start. Oil and natural gas are used to create electricity, what a ponzy scheme

... and the only one that is on target to meet the goals of that accord.

This happens when you start feeding stray animals. They lose the capability of foraging for themselves, seeking capital on commercial markets, and become utterly dependent on the kindness of strangers, so to speak. The Federal treasury, once opened to them, is seen as a “sustainable” source of funding, and when it stops, as it surely must one day sooner or later, the cries of lamentation are pitiful to hear.

If renewable energy were an economically viable source of power, then commercial interests would be falling all over themselves to get the industry funded and running at capacity. And without reliable and cheap sources of energy, electric vehicles shall not ever be anything but a curiosity.

So far, renewable energy is neither cheap nor reliable.

This is more negotiation / art of the deal stuff with China, but it's going to be politically difficult for President Trump at the 2020 ballot box and in both houses of Congress, and bringing the rest of the GOP over to his side. To really dig in the spurs, he needs to propose a tax break for American made autos, rising with the fuel economy of the model (gasoline engines only). Let the Demagogic Party shoot that one down.

Why is it that certain groups just can’t understand there is no reason to believe the crap about human-caused climate change. Apparently they think they can change it even if it is NOT human caused. Well,I’d put my money on what Pres.Trump is doing(if I had any).

Should never have been subsidies on these items in the first place. Same goes for the ethanol industry if they are still receiving any.
