The ranking officer of a Minneapolis police precinct was removed from his post Monday after an image of what appears to be a Christmas tree decorated with racist ornaments circulated on social media, authorities said.
The removal came three days after two officers who were allegedly involved in decorating the tree were placed on paid leave.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder confirmed that Inspector Aaron Biard was removed from the top position at the north side precinct station where the tree was apparently photographed.
"After very thoughtful review and consideration I have made the decision that effective immediately Assistant Chief [Mike] Kjos will be responsible for the day to day operations of the 4th Precinct," Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said in a statement.

When you can no longer even joke about the truth without some azzhole getting “offended” or considering it “racist”, it’s pretty bad. Perhaps IF the shoe fits, maybe they ought to wear it.

Which one of the ornaments were deemed to be racist? Alcohol beverage can? Newport cigarette package? Police tape? I don’t even know what Flamin’ Hot Funyuns are...
Sorry, but my idea of “racist” doesn’t include visions of these ornaments.

One of my first jobs was in marketing and I was educating on how popular menthol cigarettes were with black people.

This was years ago, around 2003-2006, but white Marines in Iraq smoked them, almost exclusively. Possibly it was the only brand at the outlying base stores?
