World Series Champ Red Sox Accept Invitation to White House

The Boston Red Sox have accepted an invitation to the White House to celebrate their World Series championship. “We’ve accepted and we’re going to see if there’s a date that works,” team President Sam Kennedy said Monday night before the premiere of the ballclub’s 2018 highlight video.

Once a standard, non-partisan perk of winning it all, the traditional champions’ visit to Washington has become more politicized. Some teams have declined invitations from President Donald Trump; in other cases, individual players stayed home.

Gee, and I remember some players declining the invite as they did not want to rub elbows with Obama or even Clinton. But you can imagine the media’s reaction during those times (probably that good deal different from if a Republican were in the White House instead).

Big Media will be sure to tell us which players “won’t” (can’t) attend, and praise them.

Wonder if Alex Cora will show up? He was grumbling about it.

then-Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas got beat-up in the media pretty badly for refusing to go meet Obama.

Either they ALL go... or the ALL don’t go.

If a team can’t be a team at the WH, ‘eff ‘em.

The red sox manager, alex cora, has shown some class by saying he will not only attend, but will be respectful.

We'll see.

Just my two cents...

If I were on a team that won a championship while Obama was President, I’d have gone. Now don’t get me wrong. I despise Obama as much as anyone on here.

But I am willing to take the politics out of what should be a non-political moment. If I had to, I’d have politely and quietly shook his hand and said nothing. I’d have refused a picture with him.

To any media who questioned my thoughts about being there, I’d simply say “I am here as a member of the _______ Championship team. There are politics here and there is no I in team” and left it at that.

The media has poisoned and divided this country, perhaps for good.

So any player who goes to Trump’s White House will be criticized. And any player who stays home will be celebrated.

What are the chances of an SJW Twitter campaign (10 or 12 guys in their parents’ basement) to be launched, shaming the Red Sox nation and demanding a boycott.

After the Eagles won the SB, they decided to throw a big FU to POTUS by not going to the White House. The only one who said he would go was MVP Nick Foles. If the NFL was gone tomorrow, I would not skip a beat living my life.
