As a former NYer, I know what you say is true.

I love NYC, but it is it's own universe. And in that universe, there is a hierarchy.

If you can't stand up to the thugs, you are doomed.

I sold my vending machine route in my later 20s to two guys in their 50’s who said they were connected.

Within 2 weeks, 3 of the machines on my old route were destroyed or robbed.

They lost most of the spots within 2 months.

I was not to be reckoned with back then.

Now I can’t reckon with a physically fit 8 year old girl :)

BTW, you post definitely shows that you lived here.

i love it too, but PA is calling me as the years pass.

Only the wife is keeping me here.

I might have to do something about that :)
