Is that “levy” or “levee?” Drove my chevy to the levy, or drove my chevee to the levee but the levee was dry?
We can see working boats any time of day pushing barges up and down the river, mostly coal barges (since Trump won the coal war). We had a wonderful River Museum and it burned last July. Doing my part to help clean up the damage to artifacts, by prying apart hundreds of photographs of river boats, old and new. It tedious trying to save enough of the image of the boats to use photo shop to reproduce them. They were drenched with water and the larger part of them are a total loss. I have to count those for the insurance co.
What fun memories, Nan!
I am excited that she will be cruising the mighty Mississippi, again. I would love to book a cruise.
The pig was pushed by air pressure or drawn?
Years ago I would see this “Lady of the River” in port in New Orleans. It will be grand to soon see the Delta Queen in her proper place on the river again. She is not just a boat, she is Americana History.
I am no where near Mississippi...BUT I LOVE THIS STORY!!
The plan is to ply several upstream rivers on overnight cruises, so you don't have to take the whole enchilada if you only want to go from Cincinnati to Dubuque or wherever.
And since the boat was built in California to run on the Sacramento River, there's no connection with those rednecks, neo-confederates and other undesirables the PC crowd could use as leverage to keep the Delta Queen in drydock forever.
However, as I understand it, a competing river cruise line did some strenuous lobbying in past sessions of Congress to prevent the waiver from passing which President Trump signed Tuesday.
Cool. Great.
Wish I were there.
air.
Yawn.
