I heard the audio of his singing of the Lords Prayer, and it was profoundly moving (as it always is when it is sung). My immediate thought afterward was how shallow and insignificant it made most of the pop music-inspired stuff that passes for worship music these days sound by comparison. There are some great contemporary worship songs, but most of the rest just sound so superficial compared to singing the scripture with power and authority. Im continually frustrated at many churches prioritization of generating experiences and appearing hip instead of honoring timeless scriptural authority.

The complaint is usually that “traditional” music sounds too dirge-like. They want “happy” “up-beat” songs.
I personally don’t like the 7-11 music, and I’m sick of church being treated like a concert which blows out my ears.
