sometimes you just have to push back. the principal of my kids elementary school banned Christmas songs. So I wrote/called school superintendent — Fairfax County Va — who told me that Christmas songs were
absolutely llowed as long as other religions songs were included in the winter concert. Concert could not be exclusively Christmas.

Seems like that too is a misreading. In the article it says as long as you have them side by side with secular songs. I would think an intentional misread but you can judge for yourself!
