Pelosi takes hard line on Trump’s wall ahead of meeting

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday rejected the idea of paying for President Donald Trump’s border wall in exchange for helping hundreds of thousands of young immigrants avoid deportation.

Funding for the wall — a top Trump priority — and legal protections for so-called Dreamers, a key Democratic goal, should not be linked, Pelosi said.

“They’re two different subjects,” she said.

Her comments came as the House and Senate approved a stopgap bill Thursday to keep the government funded through Dec. 21. The measure, approved by voice votes in near-empty chambers, now goes to the White House.

Trump has promised to sign the two-week extension to allow for ceremonies this week honoring former President George H.W. Bush, who died Nov. 30. But he wants the next funding package to include at least $5 billion for his proposed wall, something Democrats have rejected. Trump is set to meet Tuesday at the White House with Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.

It is politically impossible for Democrats to agree to anything, anything, that says "wall" in it.

Under any all circumstances and no matter what deal is offered.

Perhaps just an extra $10bil for "border security"?

Trump should be willing to keep the government shut down for the next 2-6 years until the wall is fully funded.

oh come on, you know they’ll never do anything in a couple of weeks after they’ve failed to do anything for a couple of years.

Yay Republicans.

Hey, Nancy — You have to build the wall first in order to know if you want to fund it.

The dems promised Reagan border control in exchange for amnesty. Amnesty was put into law and that promise mysteriously never was realized.

In similar fashion, trump should promise full-on communism in excange for the wall.

I know POTUS is all about the art of the deal, but if this nation is to survive, with regard to illegal immigration, there can be NO MORE compromise than we have already made. NONE.

"It is politically impossible for Democrats to agree to anything, anything, that says "wall" in it."

It’s too bad that this probably doesn’t include the politically correct “wall of separation” between church and state.

On the brighter side, I don’t think that Democrats are going to get anything on their unconstitutional federal wish list any more than Pres. Trump got his wall because of gridlocked Congress.

Insights welcome.

Headline should read: “Democrat first - Pelosi opposes multibillion dollar government jobs program.”

“border security”

*************

That may be appropriate as we have as big a problem on the West
Coast border as along the southern border.

The number of Visa overstays are in the same range as the illegals
crossing the southern border.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2018/08/07/dhs-foreigners-overstayed-visas-2017/924316002/

snip.....

More than 600,000 foreign travelers who legally entered the United States
in 2017 overstayed their visas and remained in the country by the end of the
year, according to Department of Homeland Security data released Tuesday.

"Trump is set to meet Tuesday at the White House with Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer."

Pres. Trump has hopefully learned from any mistakes in dealing with Pelosi and Schumer.

In the meanwhile, while Trump deals with gridlocked Congress for wall, patriots can support him in enforcing Section 2 of the 14th Amendment which prohibits undocumented Democrats (my word) from voting in federal elections imo.

Also, patriots are encouraged to watch Dan Borgino’s excellent 37 min video (associated book). The video helps to flesh out the alleged Mueller conspiracy against Pres. Trump.

At least the “overstayed” entered legally, exhibiting some purpose of benefit, some indication of independence, and did not have pointedly objectionable issues.

This vs “snuck across” completely without permission, and not screened for disease or criminality.

First things first.
