There's a good chance the Chinese will retaliate for the arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou by targeting American businesses in China, former assistant U.S. trade representative Jeff Moon told CNBC on Thursday.

Meng was arrested on Saturday in Canada and is facing extradition to the United States reportedly for violating U.S. sanctions on Iran.

Irrational is right. Once upon a time there was some relationship between value and price. I’m watching the inasinty on the news as Walmart empties at the threat of a dusting of snow and ice. Nucking futs.

You would think the Canadians would have to have a reason to arrest someone...

Um, that's pretty much the point of an extradition treaty. We want to arrest someone who's in your country, so if you do it and send him to us, we'll do the same for you.

Um, that's pretty much the point of an extradition treaty.

Extradition treaties are not a total turnover of a nations arrest powers.

There has to be a real charge. Of course, an arrest may be made, and then extradition argued over, which is likely in this case.

If China wants to end up on the ropes, they can try some serious counter-punching, but the longer the bout goes, the bloodier they will be when the Ref raises Trump’s (America’s) right arm in triumph...

“Meanwhile, officials from major U.S. companies at a meeting in Singapore on Thursday voiced concerns about retaliation against American firms and their executives, Reuters reported, citing people with knowledge of the meeting. Several attendees said their companies were considering restricting travel to China and looking to move meetings outside the country, Reuters reported.”
