Macron wants to get rid of those nuke plants by 2030, switching to “renewable” energy. This is about removing cars from French life completely (except for the elites and the apparatchiks serving them, of course.)

“Macron wants to get rid of those nuke plants by 2030,”

What Macron wants isn’t looking too relevant these days... ;-)

“switching to “renewable” energy.”

The official French plan is to move to 50% nuclear generation (from 75% currently) with the 25% replaced with renewables. That isn’t a terrible plan, since renewables are generally dispatchable.

“This is about removing cars from French life completely (except for the elites and the apparatchiks serving them, of course.)”

Not at all, since electric cars are now viable, and will become the norm within a few decades. They will end up cheaper to buy and operate and will be more reliable.

Internal combustion cars will be regarded the same way we regard steam-powered cars today - obsolete.
