Chuck Schumer: No deal on infrastructure without addressing climate change
Washington Post ^ | December 6, 2018 | By Chuck Schumer

Posted on 12/07/2018 4:42:19 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

Now that Democrats will soon control one branch of Congress, President Trump is again signaling that infrastructure could be an area of compromise. We agree, but if the president wanted to earn Democratic support in the Senate, any infrastructure bill would have to include policies and funding that help transition our country to a clean-energy economy and mitigate the risks the United States already faces from climate change.

For too long, Congress has failed to act in a meaningful way to combat the threat posed by climate change.

It’s impossible to overstate the urgency with which America needs to confront climate change. Even the Trump administration, which officially denies humankind’s role in climate change, released a report last month outlining its current impacts and warning of dire consequences in the near future. Without drastic intervention, more powerful storms, floods and fires, as well as billions of dollars in damage to our economy, await the next generation of Americans.

Two weeks ago, I was blessed with the birth of my first grandchild. I want him to grow up and grow old in a world that’s safe and healthy — a dream I know every American has for their children and grandchildren. In the next Congress, Democrats have to force the issue. An infrastructure bill in the new Congress could be one of the first opportunities we get. We intend to take it.

So if we don’t spend billions on the “climate change” boondoggle, he won’t let us spend billions on an infrastructure boondoggle? OK.

If we believed Al Gore when he brought up climate change, we’d all be dead now.

It is irrelevant to this ass and his ilk whether human caused climate change is real or not. It is simply a means by which to have power and control over others.

Does the Constitution say the federal government needs to provide money for roads, infrastructure, etc.? I don’t think so. It is long past time to shut this leviathan down. Start by cutting the government in half. Has anyone ever read the 10th Amendment? It says: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Schumer is not able to enforce his edict.

Such an effort must come from the House.

There is officially gridlock

The American electorate is stupid as evidenced by Schmucky staying in office. They are not so stupid as to believe the sky is falling climate BS that the Mob politicians have been peddling for 50 years. When this nonsense is put on the ballot they even vote it down in Oregon. I think Trump really thought he could get some democrat support for infrastructure improvements since all Americans support it. The democrats would resist a cure for cancer if Trump in any way shared credit for it.

Nothing positive will get done.

While very little new legislation will get done, that can be lots of new judges, policies, and orders at the executive level. The Senate is Republican controlled (53-47).

Let the states fund their own damn infrastructure anyway. The nation is broke, broke, broke. We are running trillion dollar annual deficits again.

-——Obama did it with Solyndra. Then Solyndra went under. Apparently, Solyndra didn’t get enough tax money.-——

Solyndra was a democrat money laundering scheme.....to the tune of 550 million....

How does a company with 1,100 employees loss a half a billion dollars and goes bankrupt ?

WaPo, Schumer, CNN, et al.

It would be a waste of time and resources to riot like the French are doing when the people can just go after the perpetrators of this sham.

Right now, as we speak, judges are not moving because of the never trumper Senate. The republicans are in charge 51/49 as I recall. We will see how much gets done. The Senate will be too busy investigating Trump related to the Mueller investigation findings and whatever else The House, FBI, CIA can come up with. Flake is not the only never trumper in the Senate, he is just the one taking the heat right now. Romney is on his way. We shall see how well that 53/47 majority holds up.

I’d go almost to any length...hire the best minds... whatever it took... to not deal with the likes of schumer... I would never give him an opportunity to hang anything over my head... his smear look and his lies... would keep me from being in the same room with him.

evil is evil... wherever it lives.. and whomever it lives with. schumer, pelosi and others on that side of the aisle.. want their power back and it’s the last thing they should have. Graham said in his outburst in the Kavanaugh hearings, told them he hoped they never got that power back to do what they did to Kavanaugh.. and what they intend for Trump.
