Residents of Boulder, Colorado who refuse to comply with a state order to “certify” their so-called assault rifles this month could face fines, jail and confiscation of their firearms.

Following through on an “assault weapons” ban passed in May, the Boulder city council is requiring residents who already owned prohibited rifles, pistols, and shotguns to certify them with the police by December 27 or face repercussions, according to the Denver Post.

The sale or possession of assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and bump stocks was banned earlier this year and weapons already owned by Boulder residents were grandfathered in, allowing until the end of the year for a certificate to be obtained.

Same old whiny crap excuse to shift the blame from home grown Colorado assholes. There have never been enough liberal assholes leaving California to do the damage claimed in so many states. Just own your own bullshit instead of pretending it came from somewhere else.

Single shot 22 cal and shotguns and revolvers (smaller than 32 cal) ok for now. I’m sure the Council will make sure criminal comply to this. This is all about registering citizens firearms.

What happens when a government entity (federal/state/local) ignores the SCOTUS ruling and proceeds as they wish?

Who is going to stop them?

Asking for a friend...

My only government wonkery comes from studying the bible. From the bible I find that our whole system is very delicate and could change drastically at any time. Many Freepers have pointed out that it has already changed quite a bit from the original intent.

As an experiment I just googled "state ignores supreme court" and got 48,600,000 hits.

I read a post on a blog from a guy who rather than drop his guns overboard on a canoe trip would peruse the obituaries. When he found a suitable individual he would write them a bill of sale for a gun and date it the date of a local gun show. He sold a few guns that way.

How do the solons in Boulder know who owns what? There’s no registration law in CO, to the best of my knowledge. And in the blue states which require registration of scary black rifles, the compliance rate is less than ten percent.

They’ll have to go door to door to find out.

What is considered a “high capacity magazine”?

More than some arbitrary number pulled out of some bureaucrat's ass, but less than infinity.

Registration is only a knock on the door away from confiscation.

Conservative or otherwise, we need justices that actually own and use guns.

Since it is just a number on a list, for safety and privacy, maybe register anonymously directly or via an attorney?

Nope. No longer “destroying”. As of early November 2018-—”DESTROYED”. But you know that too. Anyone seen hillary skivvies lately? What’s she doing about the 395/580 traffic? Sorry, no money. But-—Midtown! WOO HOO! Saw some new “condos/townhouses/apartments” a block off Virginia the other day. $560K! Behind Michael and Sons. WUT! SRSLY!? But it is in mid-town thus “hip”. Eye roll please.

“Since it is just a number on a list, for safety and privacy, maybe register anonymously directly or via an attorney?”

That’s a good question for Trump’s attorney /s

They did this in NY a few years ago. Almost ZERO compliance.

I won’t comment if I complied or not.
