Los Angeles to Consider Vegan Food Mandate at Theaters
Variety ^ | 12/05/18 | Gene Maddaus

Posted on 12/07/2018 11:59:38 AM PST by Libloather

A Los Angeles city councilman proposed on Wednesday that the city require movie theaters and sports venues to serve vegan food.

The law would make Los Angeles the first city in the nation to impose such a mandate. At a press conference on the steps of City Hall, councilman Paul Koretz announced the measure alongside representatives from PETA, the Humane League, and the Los Angeles Food Policy Council. The ordinance would require theaters and other “large-scale entertainment venues” that serve food to offer at least one vegan protein option on their menus.

“There’s really no downside to it,” Koretz told Variety. “The change could easily be made in any venue. A movie theater serves hot dogs. They can serve vegan dogs. It’s easy.”

[Tin pot dictators - at every level.]

Liberals make everything better!

I hope there are no 32oz sodas or Bloomberg will have to fly out there!

On a solar-powered airplane, of course.

There was a story in past year about a vegan that ordered a veggie sub at some franchise and made a point about being vegan.

Fine, no problem.

Then she asked for mayo on it.

The employee pointed out to her that mayo isn't "vegan".

Can't remember what happened after that.

I supposed he could have offered to hit it was just oil, mustard, and lemon, and tell her it's eggless and un-homogenized vegan mayo.

I’m pretty sure if there was a demand for vegan snacks, theaters would already have them available-but if the veganloons insist on this marketing disaster, then I hope he theaters offer something on the cheap side-maybe tofu covered in pinto beans-I’m sure that would be a popular item...

How about, instead, we just stay home and enjoy our 100 per cent beef hot dogs, our butter-slathered popcorn, our cheese nachos, and other good stuff there, and not attend Cinema Vegan?

“And it’ll take 30 minutes to cook”

But not above 130° Fahrenheit which would cook off any vitamins... speaking of which, when will microwave ovens be banned.

Veganism is not only about meat, it is also about nutritionally rich food without pesticide or herbicide residue, i.e. “Organic”

“There’s really no downside to it,” Koretz told Variety.

This person doesn't see any downside to the government telling you what you can eat. And THAT, my friends, is the problem.

They are not saying they “should” be offered, they are planning to mandate, require that these items be offered.

There’s a difference between “should” and “required”.

Only a matter of time until meat products will be banned, this step is only a start for true believer liberals.

There is some irony in this push for vegan food in theaters. A generation ago, the leftist health police demonized popcorn cooked in coconut oil as part of their misguided crusade against fats. What could be more vegan friendly than popcorn cooked in coconut oil?
