The cooks at my high school served “The Wednesday Special” which was chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, yeast rolls made from scratch and usually green beans, and chocolate milk. Surprisingly enough, even though we put away a week’s worth of carbs in one convenient package, few of hte kids had weight problems. Of course after school there were sports, chores and if you got bored outdoor activities like riding bikes or ice skating. No internet.
Kids don’t/aren’t allowed to get out play like we did as kids...
Most schools have eliminated daily PE to save $ and cut back on recess. Kids sit all day and don't exercise. If some boy starts to work off their excess energy, they drug him.
