Paris was in lockdown early on Saturday with 'thousands' of French security forces braced to meet renewed rioting by "yellow vest" protesters in the capital and other cities in a fourth weekend of confrontation.....

The Eiffel Tower and other tourist landmarks were shut, shops were boarded up to avoid looting and street furniture removed to avoid metal bars from being used as projectiles.

About 89,000 police were deployed across the country.

"I don't think he's fooling around.......this was earlier Friday."

A show of force might keep the lid on things....until the soldiers step back and join with the protestors.

Last week police were removing their helmets and stepping aside.

Ambulance and firefighters were also joining in.

And the whole time Little Macaroni is busy redecorating his palace.

In the midst of the yellow vest protests Macron was busy talking about renovating his palace

During the yellow vests protests President Macron invited newspaper Le Monde to talk about renovating his palace, French news outlet Marianne reports. The French President received a delegation of Le Monde on 22 November, after the start of the yellow vests protests on 17 November. According to the news outlet, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron received the newspaper “to praise the renovation work of the Festival Hall of the Elysée Palace”, which is supposed to become “a dialogue space”.......“We are at a time in the life of the nation where we must invest,” Macron told Le Monde. “The Elysee is the showcase of France and had not been invested for years “.

I’m on the train on my way to Paris right now, and hoping not to find the city in flames when I get there! The violence, for the most part, is from the traveling mob of anarchists that shows up at every legitimate protest and deligitimzes it. However, what I honestly don’t understand is why Macron has simply laid low all week and not come out to talk to the people.

There’s a report that the police have resorted to stronger gas and they are using phosgene on the protesters.

Any idea how potent that stuff is?

You can still get in - everything in certain areas is closed, though. I’m staying on the Left Bank in an area that hasn’t been a target (yet) so I think it will be okay. I’ll find out in about three hours!

Heck of a lot more than 1,500 people and they are closing in on the Arc de Triumphe with some tear gas being fired.

But the state of Washington voted against a ‘carbon tax’ 56-44.

It is actually our system where people voted in change, but Trump has, it increasingly appears, been defeated and co-opted.

Look how ineptly the GOP/RNC let the Dems steal control of the House, and yet Trump promises he’ll let the Romney run the RNC up through 2020. Look at the Bushbot he just nominated as his next AG. And how the FBI/DOJ attorney can supposedly thwart the will of the admin by stopping Comey’s testimony in Congress.

How much has our approach to illegal immigration actually changed? What happened to the repeal of Obamacare? What sort of legislation to drain the Swamp was passed or even has been proposed?

Yeah, Trump still puts out the defiant tweets, but I wonder how much he was beat back and ultimately buckled to the threat of Mueller really prosecuting to the level of Ivanka and Don Jr.

Yesterday he not only nominated a Bushbot AG but also a Deep Swamper as his new CoS. Two really pivotal positions. Meanwhile he’s meeting with W again in January and the Bushes have been elevated to minor saints the way McCain was a couple of months ago.

Yeah, there are some murmurings now of the Clinton Foundation getting investigated. But more than a year in after the CFO reportedly flips for leniency and no actual trials, etc.?

I don’t doubt but that the Qanon thing has had the Trumps believing in their methods, but in effect has it been an opposition taming psyop?

I don’t see us out of Afghanistan or Syria or really substantially operating foreign policy differently than neocons would do overtly.

There are the vaunted trade negotiations, but how much how far do we really get with that? The new NAFTA, for example, gives Google/Facebook/Twitter new legal protections for their increasing censorship. While the Trump admin has done nothing to address that censorship or to even clip their wings at all.

I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer, but sometimes taking a cold hard look at what is really being done by our government is a worthy exercise.

The BBC put out the notion that phosgene is believed to be in use.

I found this link to info from the Centers for Disease Control.

PS Don’t get me wrong, we are much the better off to be out of TPP and the Paris climate change monstrosity, for example. But increasingly it looks to me like the Trump admin is in check for other than the minor, controlled opposition swing to slightly to the right that is allowed from time to time as part of the kabuki.

Barr seems to be well respected and thought of.

I mean, really, could anybody be worse than Jeff Sessions?

Barr was with Poppy back in the days of his CIA drug running and then his last AG—who got an easy confirmation vote.

“Well respected” covers the likes of Mueller and his criminal gang.

And really, is a recused and apparently compromised Sessions (apparently voted repeatedly in committee to permit the Uranium One sedition) your standard?

Sessions is gone, thankfully. What a dud he turned out to be.

Barr will be over Mueller and has made public comments criticizing Mueller so we will see.

If Joe diGenova respects him, I have hope.

The A16 motorway at Calais in the north of France is blocked in both directions. Protesters want to stop lorry traffic from getting into the Euro Tunnel.

I read JD’s column at FoxNews and I have mucho respect for him and his wife.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/america-needs-bill-barr-to-take-the-reins-at-the-badly-damaged-justice-department

However...

Will Barr actually hold the traitors accountable or be just another version of Sessions, Wray, etc...?

America needs a “Dirty Harry” to march these traitors to prison or it will get even worse.

some hysterical BS on this thread.

I am in Paris right now near the Seine. I don't see jack s* going on. plenty of Christmas decorations. people strolling around.

walked by the premier house just now after breakfast. yeah, the gendarmes were out in combat gear but they seemed to be just standing around with nothing to do.
cafe’s are pretty full, traffic light.
so maybe somewhere near the arc de triomphe stuff is going on but i don't see anything remotely like “lock-down”.
a lot of retail stores are closed though, and there are boards up and paper covering a lot of windows. i don't get the paper thing, but who knows.
