My guess is that the $25 billion will be added in the Senate, then cut in half as a compromise in the conference committee. Pelosi and crew will denounce Trump and the Senate but vote for the final take-it-or-leave-it package with the additional border wall funding in order to keep the government running.

I believe in the event money for the border wall gets added, Pelosi and her boot-licking media allies will denounce Trump and Senate Republicans for shutting down the government. They know that always works with the RINOs and deep staters.

Trump knows that his reelection chances improve if his base is energized by a mostly successful fight for funding and major progress on building the wall. Similarly, Pelosi will fight him in order to agitate the Left and advance the Democratic Party’s strategy of using identity politics to hold the loyalty of immigrant communities. Yet any government shutdown will be brief because the political risks are too great for either side to bear.
