It is essentially a protection racket, that has two main aspects. The first is the requirement to pay up, whether through corporate taxes or through pseudo-voluntary contributions to leftist causes. The second is the replacement of ethics with compliance, which makes being a corporate entity much easier: as long as the corporation complies with regulations (and keeps up with the aforementioned payments), it will not have its ethics questioned and it can run itself as it otherwise wishes to obtain enough profit for the staff.

Politicians are adept at playing both sides of any issue. In this case the dems cater too and take plenty of money from big businesses of all types. By constantly ranting against them, they have convinced low information voters of the opposite and that is all tat matters.

There is an odd dynamic that comes into play about the way politicians speak. When a republican strays from his campaign rhetoric or starts to lean toward supporting a liberal issue like open immigration, his or her constituents turn against them.

When dems do the same thing it doesn't affect their support because their voters just assume they are lying to everyone else.

“The Democratic Party is now openly and explicitly socialist”

Since so many billionaires are now supporting the Democrats, they must realize when the Dems collect their dues to support their socialist programs they will only collect dues from the working class and not their billionaire buds.

It’s the same reason why the same leftists who hated the U.S. government when there was one or two intelligence agencies are now in love with a government that has 15-20 of them.

The left is in bed with the permanent bureaucracy and their cronies

Their social-engineering perversion also explains why they have become the biggest war-mongers there are.

They still hate business here in Wisconsin - our new leftist governor what to tax not only businesses out of the state but farmers as well. Their list of things to hate is expanding not shrinking.

Because most socialists are wealthy or come from wealth. That is not the way it used to be. Its what happens when you lower their taxes.

Government and big business have largely become one in America.

Corporatism and monopolism play into the leftist agenda. We do not have a free market, and they want it even less free.

The media conglomerates formed from Clinton era legislation (c.1996) started the accelerating end of any semblance of a free market. Deplatforming independent voices would complete their hold.

Of course the left loves big business now.

I think a better question is why do so many conservatives cheer on Levithan to wield power not found in the Constitution (unless you believe the Founders had Sherman in mind when they wrote the Commerce Clause), power the left will SURELY use against "our" large firms in due time, just because some voluntary IT platform removed their post?

The Founders didn't seek to bust up the East India Trade Co in their days. What makes you think they'd give a cheery two-thumbs up to breaking up FB?

The left fights to protect Twitter and Amazon's independence and the right tries to break them up. Next thing you know it, Ted Nugent will call for a ban on assault rifles and Dershowitz will call for a repeal of Roe. It's a mad, mad, mad world.

Big business want to make money and that is good. Big Business also understands the corruption in government. Thus it feeds at the trough of crony capitalism. Big business is corrupt due to the corruption of government. Oddly this corruption of government and business is both Republican and Democrat.

Oddly, Dwight Eisenhower warned us in his parting speech about the influence of the military industrial complex and its influence on congress. This influence today has corrupted all levels of government aside from the military industrial complex. Just look at what Google is today and all is clear.

.
Only the uninformed on the left hate big business.

Big Business has always been deeply socialistic.

The governing boards of big business are filled with Billionaire Socialists.

There's left and there's left.

I doubt hard-core sectarian leftists (actual socialist activists) have much enthusiasm for Apple or Google.
