Obama Pushes Bogus Claim About ACA: Your Premiums Cost Less Than Your Cell Phone Bill
Townhall.com ^ | December 11, 2018 | Beth Bauman

Barack Obama is doing everything in his power to encourage average Americans to sign up for the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare. In fact, he's doing everything he possibly can to keep the legislation that has been deemed his legacy, from dying.

On Monday, Obama shared a video, reminding Americans to sign up in case they get "very sick" in 2019.

No jump shots. No ferns. No memes. Not this time. I’m going to give it to you straight: If you need health insurance for 2019, the deadline to get covered is December 15. Go to https://t.co/ob1Ynoesod today and pass this on — you just might save a life. pic.twitter.com/8mHMsXGY0g— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) December 10, 2018

What's bogus is Obama makes the claim that most people can get health insurance for $50 to $100 a month, which he says is significantly less than a person's cell phone bill.

A couple years ago, when I had my own business, I had health insurance through the exchange. I was paying roughly $350/month for just myself. My deductible was significantly lower than some of the other plans that had lower premiums and higher deductibles. I don't see the doctor very much but when I do, I don't want a $300-$400 bill.

Out of curiosity, I checked how much it would be for me to get a plan on Obamacare. Right now. For a 26-year-old, who sees the doctor 3-4 times a year and takes 2-3 prescriptions, there was nothing under $270 in Idaho. How is that less than my cell phone bill? And how is that affordable when the deductibles are thousands and thousands of dollars? What incentive do people – especially young adults my age – have to enroll in Obamacare when they'd pay more health insurance than they'd spend out-of-pocket for the few times a year they see the doctor?

This is another fabricated lie, just like "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor."

I think the POS is probably talking costs to other grifters like himself whom are on subsidized crap care. If this POS mouth is moving, he is lying.

I'm on Medicare, the government's supposedly 'free' health care system, that many Democrats want to expand to all. My wife and I have total annual health care 'premium' costs of $8,000. These include the Plan A, B, D, etc. direct payments, as well as Medigap insurance, and copays. We have no costly health issues.

Our cell phone bill is $1,680 per year, just 21% of our cost of our "Free" health care. This also ignores that for the past 52 years we paid substantial costs, deducted from each paycheck for the privilege of this "Free" Medicare.

That the monthly bill is lying?

This increase in heath care is unaffordable
Plus not only are the rates higher, but the coverage is less than before!

your premiums purchase a very large deductable that in effect is no insurance.

Well, technically it is insurance. It used to be called catastrophic insurance, and it was dirt cheap before Obamacare.

I'm 63 and take exactly one : a vitamin D supplement which I could buy over the counter, but the RX version only need to be taken once weekly.

This is a very common Rx in the Pittsbugh area because most of us spend too much time indoors and full sunshine days are scarce.

My phone bill for both of us $120

My insurance $900 plus what my employer pays, plus my deductible annually is $13k. Obama needs to retake his Remedial Mathematics class.

Your employer subsidizes every adult on your plan to the tune of roughly $800 per month. A little less for each child. This is an AVERAGE. It could be a little less if the adults on your plan pay more than about $200 each, or a lot more if you work for the government, school districts and the like.

The whole idea behind ObaMaoCare is to ration it so that people like you or I pay a lot more and "his" people, druggies going through their 134th rehab, the wildly promiscuious, illegal aliens and the like pay a lot less. After all, we are lucky to be born with health and others aren't.

I have never considered Obama my president any more than I consider Rosie O’Donnell to be my wife!
