The "independent fact checkers" at PolitiFact displayed their liberal stripes again this week by hailing the liberal student activists of Parkland High School as the victimized heroes of their 2018 "Lie of the Year." The "online smear machine" that tried to "take down Parkland students" was singled out as the very worst.
The PolitiFact online ballot for their liberal audience consisted of five Trump statements, one by Trump adviser Larry Kudlow, the Parkland "smear machine"....and then one each by socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

What a stupid “lie” to call the “lie of the year”.
The entire Politifact story is about how “horrible” it was, these constant “lies”.
But really, there was one falsehood, and it wasn’t even really a lie, it was people coming to the WRONG CONCLUSIONS.
That was the ‘lie’ that Hogg was from california, and therefore was probably a crisis actor hired. There was “evidence” for this, like the interview on a california TV station; it turned out he happened to get interviewed while on vacation, and he HAD lived in California previously, so that’s why he was in a california high school yearbook.
The point being, reasonable people could see those things, and reach an OPINION, and opinions are not lies, they are simply wrong.
And how did this hurt him? Not at all, even he says it helped him gain followers and fame. So it was a lie of no consequence, a lie that didn’t really hurt anybody.
They then talk about general comments about “crisis actors”, about other true statements attacking the kids (without calling them lies, but in an article about lies leaving the implication they were lies).
They even smeared the person who simply asked “how could hogg be at school, if he said he had to ride his bike 3 miles from home to GET to school to do interviews” (note that was not a claim, just a question, and once the question was answered, the person included the answer and apologized, so that’s hardly a “lie of the year”, like Obama telling millions of people they could keep their doctor, thus buying support for a bill that took their doctors from them).
