Huber won’t testify before House panel on Clinton probe

U.S. Attorney for Utah John Huber won't testify Thursday before the House Oversight subcommittee as its chairman had announced previously.

Huber had been assigned by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate several controversies Republicans have raised about Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, many of them stoked by right-wing activists who believe she should be prosecuted.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., chairman of the Oversight’s subcommittee on government operations, had hoped Huber would provide an update on his probe.

“Mr. Huber with the Department of Justice and FBI has been having an investigation — at least part of his task was to look at the Clinton Foundation and what may or may not have happened as it relates to improper activity with that charitable foundation, so we’ve set a hearing date for December the 5th,” he told Hill.TV previously.

That hearing was postponed until Thursday because of President George H.W. Bush's funeral service.

Meadows had wanted to quiz Huber on whether any of the Clinton Foundation’s tax-exempt money was used for personal gain as well as a litany of other conservative allegations against Clinton such as her State Department’s approval of a uranium deal with Russia.

The Oversight Committee, as all other House panels, transfers to Democratic control next month because of the results of the midterm elections.

Huber's spokeswoman, Melodie Rydalch, confirmed that Huber wouldn't testify.

“Consistent with conversations between the department and the committee, Mr. Huber will not appear at the hearing,” she said.

The hearing will instead feature Tom Fitton, the head of the right-leaning Judicial Watch, a law professor and two tax professionals.

The moment I read “stoked by right-wing activists” I stopped reading.

Sure. I’ll be happy to translate for you in that case: Huber isn’t testifying because he has nothing. He conducted no investigation. Key witness in Uranium One indicated he wasn’t even interviewed by Huber.

Huber will not and should not say anything in a public session. This would have been a waste of time and grandstanding by ineffective congressmen on their way out.

The DOJ couldn’t be more of a democrat patsy if Holder were running it.

Nope. Huber has nothing to say because he conducted no investigation. Meadows backed down to avoid that embarrassment. Meadodws now joins the all bark and no bite beltway GOP Hall of Shame alongside Pinhead Gowdy and Darryl “No Mas” Issa.

Huber was an Obama appointee. Should be surprise he won’t investigate Democrats. Although to be fair GOP appointees don’t investigate them either these days.

The PLAN by Sessions were, delay tactics to the mid-terms by appointing Huber with only reporting back to Sessions, nothing else. There are no 50,000 sealed indictments waiting for the Clintons, Obama, Comey, Brennan,Clapper,Page, etc, etc.

I don’t buy into all of that either. The only thing giving me hope right now is that Sara Carter was on Hannity last night and confirmed that there are sealed indictments when Sean brought up “his sources” telling him something is coming in regards to The Clintons and U1. She has been very good and not heavily conspiratorial. I don’t know if any of us thought that our government was this corrupt, and probably a little naïve thinking one man could change it.

WHO can SAVE AMERICA????? Seems like we are so outnumbered that ONLY GOD could save us, and we have KICKED HIM OUT of the US!!

We might have had a better chance at saving America, but we had too many fools "sitting back" and enjoying the Fake Huber and Sessions show.

huber’s job was just to review the case and see if a special counsel was warranted. He would have know the answer to that 9 months ago. sessiosn was such a POS, he is part of the coverup and the ongoing deep state attack on Trump. The American government is completely corrupted and it appears there is nothing and no one that can do anything about it.

Yup. Huber's tasks were to make recommendation about resources needed to investigate. Whether a Special Council was needed or just more or less US Attorneys.

His tasks were written in plain English in the Sessions memo. He was not tasked to actually do the full investigation nor was he tasked to prosecute.

Been saying this for many months now.

Criticized by people who hold an anonymous internet presence as a guiding star? You have to be kidding.

I like Sara but she bought into the ‘Sessions, huber and horowitz’ triumvirate...’something will be coming done the pike any day now’.

Gregg Jarrett, Chris Farrell & Tom Fitton were rightly skeptical from the beginning

Based on my limited experiences in traversing Kansas along the e-w axis, I’d Trust Kansas to be VERY cross windy. [90 deg SWA in my VW Bug, back in the day, less in more modern vehicles.]

I’m confused. How can a funeral that happened last week affect a hearing this week?

Perhaps the funeral is being used as an excuse?

Kansas didn’t elect Kobach. And they did elect Sebelius a while back.
