If you’re Giglio’d, as a federal agent, you’re not allowed to work cases as any of your testimony can be considered untruthful. However, nothing you did is cause for termination. And any case you worked before can be scrutinized and potentially tossed.
An example, you tell your supervisor that you’re down the street picking up dry cleaning and you get into an accident on the opposite side of the city, where you were having lunch with your girlfriend. They bring you up on administrative charges. Not enough to get you fired, but you can never work another case. A defense attorney in federal court will tear you apart.
And guess what, you keep your 6-figure job, take home car, cell phone and all you do is order office supplies. There are numerous, numerous agents in federal law enforcement under this.
