Global heating is a more accurate term than global warming to describe the changes taking place to the worlds climate, according to a key scientist at the UK Met Office.
Prof Richard Betts, who leads the climate research arm of Britains meteorological monitoring organisation, made the comments amid growing evidence that rising temperatures have passed the comfort zone and are now bringing increased threats to humanity.
Global heating is technically more correct because we are talking about changes in the energy balance of the planet, the scientist said at the UN climate summit in Katowice, Poland. We should be talking about risk rather than uncertainty.
Betts said the shifting climate was pushing some natural processes such as the blossoming of trees and laying of eggs out of sync. Thats already happening. We are also seeing higher temperatures of heatwaves. The kind of thing we saw this year will happen more often.
Global warming doesnt capture the scale of destruction. Speaking of hothouse Earth is legitimate, he said.
The Paris pact was a firewall, he said. Its not helping us to keep the world as it is now. Weve lost this opportunity already. Its a firewall against climate chaos.
This weeks climate talks have crept forward with only small progress towards a new global rulebook, but emissions continue to rise and the planet continues to heat.
Things are obviously proceeding very slowly, said Betts. As a scientist, its frustrating to see were still at the point when temperatures are going up and emissions are going up. Ive been in this for 25 years. I hoped wed be beyond here by now.

We’d better go back and cover the Great Lakes with glaciers again.
Global Heating sounds like a furnace repair place that advertises on Saturday pro wrestling broadcasts.
The correct scientific term is “weather.”
If it wasn’t for global heating Chicago would still be under a mile of ice.
He’s a little late to the game. It’s now called “Climate change”, a safe, one-size-fits-all term that vaguely covers any scary crack-pot theory they come up with.
Money, money, money.....it’s all about money. Follow the money trail.
The left/UniParty are in a complete state of perpetual orgasm over the possibility of trillions in new taxes on the “unwashed masses” for this hoax. Send em to the largest insane asylum in the world: California...and don’t let em back out.
The climate is changing. What component of that is caused by human activity? I’m not well versed enough to know, but I do know that the system is so complex, it’s likely no one really knows.
The best option is to plan for adaptation. What’s changing, and how can we live with it?
Considering that we are actually still in an ice age, the only correct term could be global defrost on the counter.
I still like the classic, “Global Bulls^^^”
But now weve got this.

LOL! Yeah, how much “See Uh Oh 2” did it take to melt that mile thick ice? Tired yet? “They” aren’t.
You’d think these people would be more afraid of the fires of Hell.
where the real ‘global warming’ will be-
“Speaking of hothouse Earth is legitimate,
I remember back in the 1980s when POPULAR SCIENCE magazine had an editorial in which they said they would never use the term “Greenhouse Effect” again as it was proven wrong.
Ten or fifteen years later they re-jumped on the Glo-Bull Warming bandwagon.
The “Coming Ice Age” scare of the 1970s did not pan out.
Chicago is supposed to be under a mile of ice now due to the 1970s COMING ICE AGE scare.
“The correct scientific term is weather.”
No. The correct scientific term is climate.
Global Warming Experts should be referred as Dumbass Morons!
If "warming" isn't alarmist enough, how about the term "Global Self-Cleaning Oven".
