Brexit: EU says no to May on renegotiating deal

European Union leaders have said the Brexit withdrawal agreement is "not open for renegotiation", despite appeals from Theresa May. She wanted legal assurances on the Irish backstop to help her deal get through Parliament, after she delayed a Commons vote in anticipation of defeat.

The PM said the deal was "at risk" if MPs' concerns could not be addressed.

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said there could be clarifications but no renegotiation.

He urged the UK to set out more clearly what it wants, adding that the commission will publish information on 19 December on its preparations for a no-deal Brexit.

EU are the ones pushing for Brexit. Not the UK. Bookmarked.

Someone like Donald Trump would tell the EU to pound sand and leave.

Freedom is never easy, too many evil men out there want the power over others.

It’s why socialism always fails.

Australia and EU negotiating trade deal

“Discussions were held in a good and constructive atmosphere and showed a shared commitment to negotiate an ambitious and comprehensive agreement,” the EU’s report said.

Its bizarre. May’s actions with regards to the EU would be like the UK negotiating its surrender to Hitler in Feb. 1945 just as the allies are crossing the border into Germany.

EU extends sanctions on Russia over Ukraine

Tweeting from the EU summit in Brussels, Tusk wrote, “Decision: EU unanimously prolongs economic sanctions against Russia given zero progress in implementation of Minsk agreements.”

It’s not supposed to be a negotiation. They voted to leave the EU. That means leave. That doesn’t mean under their terms, which highlights the reason for Brexit in the first place.

Smh

I don’t get it.
I had hopes Nigel Farage would prevail.

Trump never negotiates from a position of weakness. He’s playing nice before he crushes them. What leverage does the EU have over the US? Energy? Military? Manufacturing? None.

The EU knows weakness when they see it...and May exudes weakness. What happened to the UK?

Haha... they cannot be serious with such bull sht at Bloomberg.

The Euro currency is a joke. There is no leverage to it. It is not enforceable. Tomorrow nations can quit it and that is it. It only served to bankrupt Greece and Italy, and now France with its revolt. It is the plague.

Big trading zone? Look at them talk as if they already are some kind of important and unique country. What a scam and fake news. We are back to the old lies they gave people to make them vote to join... smh

Iran is not interested, probably prefers China with its gold backed currency. Hahaha

Disgusting how May is begging them as if they existed and had all this clout. Europe is a paper entity in big trouble with Italy and Greece. They should be the ones begging, but note how the stupid craven globalists on the right have let them flip the script on them...

Disgusting. . The GOP in the US is just as dumb

Theresa May started out forceful with “No deal is better than a bad deal” but then went wobbly.”

Maybe now she will reposition to her initial stance.

Well the EU is not pushing for Brexit. May is pushing for some kind of grey zone between stay and leave. the EU says “Either stay in completely or leave completely, no half-way house”

It’s not at all comparable. May is saying “please let us keep no trade barriers and we will keep paying the same amount but with no representation. We want to keep importing non-EU citizens but ban EU citizens from working in the UK”

Be that as it may (Theresa May), considering the deal on offer now will not make it past Parliament approval, it is interesting the EU is not going soft to keep trade flowing.

That’s hardball.

Expect a lot of sqeasaling from the UK (”punishment” etc).
